The ancestor of Isamaa, Estonian National Independence Party is claimed to be the first party established in the former Soviet Union territory in 1988 even before the collapse of Soviet Union.
About Isamaa
The predecessors of Isamaa – Pro Patria Union and Res Publica Union and its predecessors have been bearing the governmental responsibility for a long time. We have had Estonian Prime Ministers seat three times (Mart Laar, 1992-1994 and 1999-2002; Juhan Parts 2003-2005). In addition to that Isamaa has been a partner in forming many coalition as a smaller partner.
We have started and implemented many crucial reforms that have made Estonia what it is now. To name a few – flat tax introduced by the first government of Mart Laar and the e-Government and e-identity implemented by the second government led by Mart Laar.
Juhan Parts was standing for the transparency of Estonia and finalising the effort join to EU and NATO as the prime minister.
